There comes a time, there must come a time when you must step out on faith, if only to save your own life. As I sit here and think about how I should get me message out to the world, deep within I know the true answer. The true answer is within me, it’s been within me all along. I’m just like you. There is that inner voice within us all that speaks to us. We all know what we have to do, it’s just a matter of doing it. What has held me back? What has been holding you back? The real answer is fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of what is to come, fear of being alone. Fear of not being accepted. Fear of being rejected.
It doesn’t matter if you are the most influential person in the world, or whether you’re just like me, average ordinary, no CEO. Just ordinary me, just extraordinary you, making it from day to day. No matter who we are or from what walk of life we come, there is one thing that resides in us and keeps us from reaching our dreams. And that little big monster is called fear. Well at least for me, I know that’s what it has been. The difference is some use it as motivation, others use it for reasons of procrastination. No matter what it is, we all experience it. Fear is what motivated me to write tonight. I sit here and ponder, what is my message to the world and why would anyone listen. The real question is, why am i afraid to share? Afraid of transparency, afraid of judgement, afraid of being exposed.

You see the facade’ that I have put on for most of my life, is what has kept me from sharing my message. We have all heard the old adage, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover, I couldn’t agree with it more. But we know that everything that looks good to us is not good for us and all of the fame and fortune comes with a price, a sacrifice. We look at celebrities, authority figures, high ranking officials, and millionaires, thinking hey they’ve got it made. Little do you know what was sacrificed to get there. What is being sacrificed to keep them there and what fears they must face each day of their lives.
Although I can’t speak about the personal experiences of others, I can speak for myself. On the outside looking in, someone might think I have it made. I’ve even heard people say, she’s got it made. But you can’t know my life, unless you have walked in my shoes or unless you’ve heard me tell my story. But in the powerful words of Langston Hughes, “Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair..” Like I said, everything comes at a price. Being transparent is going to come at a price for me.
What will be your motivation, your inspiration that will allow you to step out of fear and into faith? Remember, life is not scripted and sometimes we have to go with that inner voice, break free and hang on for the ride.
